NEW USDA Gardening Zones

One critical piece of information every gardener should know - whether she is growing an extensive vegetable garden or just a few flowers on the front porch - is her USDA gardening zone. And now the government has revised the map! Check it out here.

According to USDA spokeswoman Kim Kaplan, the new map reflects more accurate temperature taking, based on the coldest days of the year. Especially in particularly in tricky areas, like mountain ranges, the new map is supposed to be more accurate.

In addition, it is now an interactive GIS-based map for broadband users. (You can also still type in a ZIP code for regional information.)
