Update...Good News

The day after my last update, we learned that my dad-in-law does not have Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Good news...sort of. The better news, however, is that since starting antibiotics, he's been getting better. The doctors say they believe his organs will make a full recovery - no long term damage done. They are even talking about sending him home some time this week. Truly, we have no doubt that God spared him...and that prayer paved the way for his recovery. A huge, warm thank you to everyone who took time to pray for Dad.

But we still have no idea what caused Dad's initial illness - and why it resulted in pancreatitis and kidney failure. I'm hopeful the lab results might turn up something at a later date.

Dad is also still very weak. He can finally sit up on his own, but we have a feeling it will take him quite some time to really recover.

If you feel moved, please continue to pray for Dan. Pray for his full and speedy recovery. And please pray for my mom-in-law, who will be taking care of a very weak man for some time - at least weeks.

  1. It is so frustrating to not know, but praise the Lord that he is on the mend!!! My dad went through a traumatic time of health almost 3 years ago now. He ended up being vented and medically paralyzed. Bless his heart. It took him several months to recover, but he was so grateful because he knew how close he had come to death! Maybe he will qualify for some home health or outpatient physical therapy to help him gain his strength. So happy for your family!
