Get Dinners Out...on the Cheap! Limited Time Only Retaurant.com Deal

I received a Restaurant.com gift card for the purpose of this review. This post was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own.

I love to cook - I've written three cookbooks, after all. But sometimes cooking every. single. meal can feel like such drudgery. That's why I think the best gift you can give any mom is dinner out. Because what mom doesn't love a night off from cooking??

The only problem? Eating out can eat up your food budget quickly...something I'm frequently bummed about.

That's why I was excited to see that Restaurant.com is having a FANTASTIC deal on certificates. For just $3 you can get a certificate worth $25 at local restaurants! And not only do these certificates make mega-super gifts (Mother's Day is coming, friends), but at this price, you can do a little self care and buy a bunch for you, too.

Happily, Restaurant.com certificates can be used at more than 23,000 restaurants nationwide. I live in a very small town, yet I found several local restaurants that accept Restaurant.com certificates. Happy dance! The site is really easy to use, too; you can search for restaurants by zip code, city, state, type of cuisine, price range, etc.

All you have to do to take advantage of this deal is use PROMO CODE: SALE at Restaurant.com. All the site's other deals are on sale, too. For example, you can also get a $10 certificate for $1.20. Offer ends Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:59 pm CT...so grab 'em while you can!

  1. Be very careful with restaurant.com, though. I was so excited a few years back and bought two gift cards to a local restaurant and then invited an elderly couple out to eat. We had appetizers and all because we could! Got to the register - THEY DIDN'T ACCEPT THEM! It was a fraud. I had to pay for all that food, and it hurt and was embarrassing when the couple found out what happened. :(

Last week, a restaurant here had a sign on their door saying not to buy any gift cards for their restaurant from restaurant.com because they were fraud and not accepted. It brought all those old memories back up!

I'm sure there are some you can purchase from here and they are valid, but I would recommend that people call the actual restaurant BEFORE PURCHASE to see if they will even accept one purchased from there.

  2. I assure you Restaurant.com is not a scam. However, it could be that some restaurants aren't living up to their end of the deal. I've sometimes bought deals on other sites, only to have the business I bought the deal for not follow through. Another time, I'd check with the restaurant before ordering anything. And you can always report a restaurant to Restaurant.com if they aren't holding up their end of the bargain. :)

    1. I don't think they are a scam, but somehow some restaurants aren't authorizing the gift cards but they are still being sold. It could be that there are other scammers behind the scenes that have figured out how to sell them for their own profit. Who knows! But that is just my warning from personal experience.

My reply from restaurant.com was that they were sorry and sometimes there is an issue like that. They offered me the credit towards a different restaurant, and they contacted the local restaurant we went to and then removed them from their site. I never used my credit because they didn't offer any other restaurants local to me that we ate at at the time. I was only out a few dollars, so I just didn't worry about it.

According to the reply I got from their customer service, it isn't that the restaurants aren't living up to their deal. And I don't think that it means restaurant.com is a scam in any way. My warning is just that I've actually had it happen to me, and there is a sign on the Mexican restaurant here in town about the same thing happening with their restaurant location now, so there's a chance it could happen. Just a good idea to check with a restaurant to make sure they are participating before you purchase.
